It's Episode 51 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Dan Week!"

Starring: Marc, Dan, and Akshat

Dan's Potential Things This Week:

  • Leftovers: Remember when Dan ate all of Marc's leftovers after Marc's bachelor party? Neither does Dan apparently. But he does remember the way it made him feel... It was sexual.
  • The Dan Method: Listen, as Dan has an actual, bonafide good idea. We were just as shocked as you. Make sure to use the Marc Maneuver though. Try it at home... for a price.
  • Passwords: Is sharing your password with your significant other a thing? Should it be a thing? Are our significant others monsters for not docking their messaging app? Yes.

It's episode 51 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! and Happy Dan Week!!! Have you hugged a Dan today?  This episode is all about Dan. He came up with the questions that would inspire a generation. Listen to Marc and Akshat in horror as they have to consider whatever comes out of his mouth. He starts with LeftoversIs it okay to eat leftovers that aren't yours? What if they're Marc's? What if Marc was hungover the next day and really needed them? Also, listen as Dan discovers a fetish. Then, we learn about The Dan Method, which surprisingly isn't sexual at all. It is a special method of dealing with flights with a significant other, works even better after the trip! Finally, he asks about Password Sharing with your significant other. How many of their passwords do you know? How much do they know? How paranoid is Marc? Why are you asking questions? Who are you?

Happy Dan Week, everybody!

#49 Soccer Moms and Juggalo Dads

It's Episode 49 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Juggalo Moms and Soccer Dads"

Starring: Marc, Dan, and Akshat

Potential Things This Week:

  • Juggalo march on Washington: We're all marching, why not the Juggalos? Why not let them run the country? We're not here to make a political podcast; we've specifically been banned from doing that. Either way, they're marching, so if you're a fan of bad music and worse drinks, book a flight now.
  • Intermissions in Movies: It's all about finding your favorite intermissionist, you know? Sure the Arclight in Hollywood costs 30 dollars a ticket. But Johnathan is an artist, and you can't put a price on art.
  • Boneless Chicken Wings: Are they just chicken nuggets sold to adults. Well, we'll be the judge of that. On this podcast. It's basically the core concept.

It's episode 49 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! We're back! Again! Seriously, for reals. We heard the wails, we heard the cries, we got constant letters from all around the world, and we finally relented. What were we doing while we were away? Wouldn't you like to know! Oh, you would? Well, Marc's started a co-op in his neighborhood, which is wonderful. Dan's been doing a lot of humanitarian work, building houses and stuff. He's very handy. Akshat's been spending his time volunteering at soup kitchens. Really giving back, you know? No seriously, we just pissed the time away doing fuck all. Whatever, you know? What, were we supposed to spending it doing something productive? What're you, our dads?

Special thanks to Fletcher Magellan for our theme song, "Oh, No!" from his album Became a Stranger. Listen to it on his Bandcamp, and follow him on Facebook for more information about show dates and tour information.

#48 Reginald's Parking Lot

It's Episode 48 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Reginald's Parking Lot"

Starring: Marc, Dan, and Akshat!

Potential Things This Week:

  • New Year's Resolution: New Year, New You! Or, New Year, same old you because honestly, have you looked around? It's dark times. What's the point.
  • Phone Cases: Has adulthood ruined the novelty of phone cases? Maybe. Maybe you can look at it that way. Or maybe you can get you a "get it" phone case, march into an interview, and get hired on the spot. Unemployment solved! You're welcome, Donald.
  • Lightning Round!: It's Lightning Round Time! Where we go and explore the depths of twitter, and find the depths of humanity. This week starring Reginald. Problematic, probably should be in jail, Reginald. And if you though Reginald was bad, wait until you hear from someone in Florida!
  • Listener Question!: Okay, not really. It's bots. It's bots all the way down. Bots have infiltrated our world, and they're producing poetry and winning the Nebula Prize. Had anyone checked to see if Tracy K. Smith is a robot? Just asking questions.
  • Making Movies Better: How can you improve the move going experience? Well, shut up, for one. And where's the kid with my latte?

It's episode 48 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! Welcome back! This week, well, it's a wild one. We start off talking about weird, weird phone cases. Really weird. But that's okay, because we're saved by a crazy, lightning round. What more could you want? There's Reginald, and he's a fingerblasting aficionado. Hangs out in a Denny's parking lot. 10 cents a pop. Nice guy. Think that's bad? Well how about a maid of honor that manages to drink an entire bottle of liquor, and only gets violent when someone stops her from drinking the second bottle of liquor. All of it. There's a whole lot in between there. We then hear from some disingenuous listeners (they're bots) asking weird questions (seriously, they're like weird sex bots on SoundCloud). We finally talk about the movie going experience. How do we improve it? Mostly it's liquor. Maybe a catheter. We'll investigate. Come and join us!

#47 A Little Bit Ping Pong

It's Episode 47 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!

"A Little Bit Ping Pong"

Starring: Marc, Dan, and Akshat!

Potential Things This Week:

  • Marc Got Into A Car Accident: Hey, Marc got into a car accident, but he's fine. His blue Prius is gone, but the real tragedy is that his Kanye CDs are gone. The ones he used to listen to Kanye West! How will he listen to one of the most ubiquitous, well-known artists in the last two decades now? We'll never know.
  • Smartwatches: Welcome to Akshat's watch corner! Akshat assures you that as much you would like to hit him in the face after hearing this segment, he probably wants to hit himself in the face more.
  • Sub-Dermal Magnets: That's right, you heard us. What's confusing about sub-dermal magnets? Is that the core concept? The basic question we all need to ask ourselves when we do anything: why bother? Well, we don't have any answers for you. Just disdain.
  • Ping Pong: Is it truly a stereotype for Asian people to be good at ping pong? Where does the term come from? Follow us on this ethnography that most critics described as "offensive" and "banal, lacking insight, and largely racist".

It's episode 47 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast! We're back! Again! For real this time. Seriously. We first discuss Smartwatches! Akshat's the worst in this one. Don't worry, he probably hates himself more. We then talk about sub-dermal magnets! What? We don't know! We know it's stupid though. So, so stupid. Finally, we have a listener topic! Yay! Someone asked if it's a real stereotype that Asian people are good at ping pong. Of course it is, listener. Frankly, you asking seems a little bit ping pong to us. 2017 is a new year. And new year, new us, we've always said that. This year, we're back and more depressed than ever before! We hope you'll join us. In both things. That's right. In both things

#46 Flowers For Norma

It's Episode 46 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!

"Flowers For Norma"

Starring: Marc, Dan, and Akshat!

Potential Things This Week:

  • Gifting A Janitor You Know at Work: This is a listener question! Hooray! Is it okay to get a gift a janitor that cleans up your office? How about your favorite barista? And what do you truly get a 65 year old Jamaican woman who is going to leave the country soon?
  • DnD Names: Another listener topic yay! How do you go about naming your DnD character? Is there a formula? Of course there is, dummy! Why would you waste our time with questions like that! Time's precious, and here you are questioning. Ugh. Well anyways, maybe you'd like to be Ink "Bottle" Stevens? Have you heard of the legendary adventures of Wireless "Charger" Johnson?
  • Makeup For Men: Can men wear makeup? Will other men allow this act to occur? Will there by rioting in the streets? Look, it's all about enacting a change. There was a dark time in our young nation's history where codpieces were as looked down upon as murder or eating at a Burger King. But now every man enjoys the advantages, comforts, and if I can be so bold, pleasures that codpieces bring to our lives. And it all started with Codpiece Jones, a civil rights activist from (what he claimed was) the third dimension. He was from Iowa. He was a hero.

It's Episode 46 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! Today we're off to a weird start. There's slurping, Akshat's been watching Russian street fight videos, it's all a mess. But we have wonderful listener questions from two different people, and they're asking life's most difficult questions. What do you get a Jamaica-Bound old Jamaican woman you've become friends with at work because you work late often and she comes and cleans out the office? What could even compare to the joy and light she's brought into your life? Well, some shitty empanadas aren't a bad place to start. We also come up with a foolproof way of creating names for your DnD characters. You can try it at home, it's fun! Here's a name: Green "Juice" Roberts. That's a solid DnD character name right there. Finally, we talk about whether men can wear makeup, but mostly talk about whether men should wear makeup, and then mostly really why men can't wear makeup. Spoilers: it's because of society. Society's the worst.

#45 The Idaho Hall Of Fame

It's Episode 45 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!

"The Idaho Hall Of Fame"

Starring: Marc, Dan, and Akshat

Potential Things This Week:

  • Game Shows for Politicians: It's already ridiculous, why not go full force? Instead of debates, they compete in game shows! I mean, if you're going to go into town, take the Lincoln.
  • In-flight Safety Videos: It's all videos now, and it's all terrible now. It's terrible. We're all screwed.
  • Rating Actors Based on Success: That's the price of fame - constant judgement. I guess celebrities were already paying that price, but now there's a number associated with it!

It's Episode 45 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! This week, we're reforming the political system, we're reforming the airplanes, and goddamn if we're not also reforming the acting industry. Remember the 5 Ls, everyone. Live, Love, Laugh, Learn, Los Angeles. Stay safe out there.

#44 Married To Chocolate

It's Episode 44 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Married To Chocolate"

Potential Things This Week:

  • Dating: Can this humble podcast re-invent the oldest tradition? Why don't you listen and find out! The answer is yes, by the way. Just saved you some time there.
  • License Plate: How many birds can you kill with one stone? Many, many birds. I mean, the stone doesn't break, think about it. If you kill one bird, you have a dead bird and a clearly functioning stone. Kill as many birds as you want with it.
  • Hover Boards: Featuring a brand new product: Is This A Shoe?: Is Your Shoe On Fire?

It's episode 44 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast! This week, we're back from the spiritual hiatus to talk about dating. Can we reinvent dating? Yes, yes we can. Just go on a pre-date, dummy! Then, they'll know you suck before you bother to go on a full date! Problem solved. Then we talk about how we can improve license plates, and boy do we improve them. We improve them hard. Finally, we talk about hover boards (listener question from Annie!) and shoes. We also give some choice updates, which you can pair with a nice, stiff, malbec

#43 Dick Clark's Puberty Fun Zone

Special Thanks to @TaylorHigs for the logo!

Special Thanks to @TaylorHigs for the logo!

It's Episode 43 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Dick Clark's Puberty Fun Zone"

Starring: Marc, Dan, and Akshat

Potential Things This Week:

  • Updates: Edible Arrangements and the GN/GM guy. What do they have in common? They're both incredibly sad!  Also, there's a hot pocket update, but the sad thing was already mentioned.
  • New Year's Eve: Welcome to another edition of "Dan has weird proposals that we should all follow". It's very confusing. But hey, the Chinese manage to have a different New Year's Eve, so they're doing something right! Also, Dan's moving to China.
  • Cake Pops: What could possibly wrong with little balls of dough that cost 35 cents for someone to make, and cost $35 dollars to buy? Well, the economy, for one.
  • Listener Question: Fast Cars Driving Slowly: Come on. Why buy if you're not going to have a piece of the pie? Hey, did you see that rhymed? That's a free rhyme. In this economy? You're welcome.

It's Episode 43 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! We have lots in store for the weekly listening, and absolutely nothing for the new listener. Listen to the old episodes, jerk! Okay, sorry. Jeez. Stop crying. This week we have some wonderful updates, and by wonderful we mean odd, and kinda pretty horribly sad. Are any of us okay? After that, Dan has an idea for New Year's Eve, and it's not excellent so we talk about Cake Pops instead. Finally, we have a listener question from Stephen! Is it okay for fast cars to drive super slow? Of course it isn't! Why would it be? Don't be ridiculous!

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@taylorhigs) for the use of our logo!

It's Episode 42 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Bathroom Nine and Three-Quarters"

Potential Things This Week:

  • Updates: Dick Dukes still wants to know how Tony is doing. Akshat buys Hot Pockets. Don't worry, he hasn't eaten them... yet.
  • $100 of Burger King a Month: Marc takes a look at his bank account, and is met with a royal surprise. Surpise! It's Reverse Santa!
  • Edible Apologies: Thanks to Josh for this topic. Buying flowers for apologies is overrated. You know what's not overrated? Fruit.
  • Darwin Doors: Can people just hold the door for Dan? No. In that case, let them walk into automatic doors at their own risk. Darwin Doors: The doors that hit back.

It's Episode 42 of the Is This a Thing Podcast! This week, Akshat provides some welcome updates. Spoiler alert, its more than just GM and GN... Then the guys try to solve Marc's Burger King dilemma. Does it count as eating Burger King if you don't remember it? Yes. Yes it does. We receive a listener topic from Josh who asks about Edible Arrangements. Are they a thing? When are they too much/too little? Finally, Dan gets to confront those rude people in the Skyway. The right answer? Doors that hit back.

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@taylorhigs) for the logo!

It's Episode 41 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Off The Rails"

Starring: Marc, Dan, and Akshat

Potential Things This Week:

  • Making Mistakes: What, you haven't made them? You know, who died and made you the King of Popes? What's that? It was the last King of Popes? My mistake, your highness.
  • Wraps: Dan's done with 'em. Listen, we're all done with 'em. Out with wraps. In with a warm, all-enclosing crispy crust, filled with hot real cheese.
  • Thank you Cards: No one wants these anymore. You don't want these. What you want is a card dripping with sarcasm. Daddy Gets a Taste's got your back, bro. Don't even trip, dawg.
  • Celebrity Drug Running: Listen, the show's got this title for a reason. But more than that, it's a brilliant opportunity. Who's gonna check Zuckernerd's fanny pack? You? The Police? Interpol? Nobody, that's who.

It's Episode 41 of the Is This A This Podcast! We go completely off the rails this week. There's recording problems, physically. Akshat screwed up his mic configuration. Dumb. There's also recording problems, emotionally! We're real depressed. But we talk about a veritable litany of things, including drug running, thank you cards, wraps, and currency! We're on that hot off the presses tip, ya'll. Watch out Walter Mathau! We're coming for your weird, disgraced-from-regular-TV job that you've got on one of Al Gore's internet channels

#40 An Indecent Prankposal

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@TaylorHigs) for the logo!

It's Episode 40 of this Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"An Indecent Prankposal"

Starring: Marc, Dan, and Akshat!

Potential Things This Week:

  • Turtlenecks: The 90s may be dead and gone, but their fashion choices linger. No more.
  • Failure to Flush Post-Shower: Bad plumbing has led to some extremely bad habits.
  • Prankposals: Why not start your life together with the person you love most by demonstrating your complete lack of judgement?
  • Twitter Speed Round: Introducing a new searchable hashtag: #IsThatAThing.

It's Episode 40 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! Recording troubles (*cough* Akshat's incompetence *cough cough*) forced us to start from scratch, but we still had an entire episode despite trashing two perfectly good topics. Did you know that you can get oatmeal at McDonald's? Horrifying.

#39 Everybody's Looking For Tony

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@TaylorHigs) for the logo!

It's Episode 39 of this Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Everybody's Looking For Tony"

Starring: Marc, Dan, and Akshat!

Potential Things This Week:

  • Punishments for Everyday Wrong-doing: Marc's got a bold new plan for people committing minor crimes: actual, real life punishments. Did someone tailgait you? Did a dog poop on your lawn? Go ahead and call 912, a government sponsored program that doles out appropriate punishments! Also your crimes might appear on your dating profile. Part of the deal.
  • Rapid Fire Twitter Questions: All your twitter questions answered here! Women DWs? Metric Time? All the answers are no.
  • Babymoons!: Babymoons? Babymoons! Something for the rich people, filtering down to the middle class, as long as you can afford it and don't need a job anymore.

It's Episode 39 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! It's kind of a jumble of many questions, and poor sound quality. Lucky you! We start by talking about 912: a revolutionary new number to call on people committing minor crimes. Ruin their dating life! Hooray! We also talk about metric time, which is a bad idea mostly because it leads to conversations like the one in this episode! We also talk about BabyMoons! It's taking a honeymoon, right after you have a baby! Mostly, there should be government programs that allow people to have like, a minute, after having a baby. Jesus, is that so hard? They just need, like, a goddamn minute to rest their eyes.

It's Episode 38 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!

"Vice President Criss Angel"

Starring Marc, Dan, and Akshat

Potential Things This Week:

  • Using your phone at the urinal: As always, the solution isn't to get people to stop. The solution is to offer them an alternative. In this case, Daddy Gets A Taste Inc. is proud to present PissBlasters™! Note: Daddy Gets A Taste Inc. is not responsible for any Dick watching that may take place.
  • Cash Dying Out: A great listener question sent to from Mike, in Minneapolis. All of these new technologies are just a stopgap to the apocalyptic time when money will mean nothing, and this podcast will be done only to appease our mutant lizard overlords.
  • Adult Coloring Books: In this, like anything else in life, we must defer to the wisdom of Bun B.

It's episode 38 of this Is This A Thing Podcast! We start our courageous journey by offering a Vice Presedential nominee for Donald Trump. With this pick, he's got it in the bag. The bag also a contains a live rabbit! Magic! We then continue by talking about the plague of Dick Watchers vis a vis using your phone at a urinal. They're everywhere. Luckily, we have a solution. Then, we move on to a wonderful listener question from Mike, in Minneapolis. Is cash dying out? Yes, probably. Stop resisting change, olds. It's the way of the future. Finally, we talk about adult coloring books. Marc gets really angry, but don't worry. He apologizes for it.

"Those giant mutant salamanders, are they a thing?"

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@taylorhigs) for our logo!

Episode 34 of the Is This a Thing podcast!

"Is This a Date?"

Potential Things This Week:

  • Office Decoration: Dan tries to have a job without being part of his office's culture. Sadness ensues.
  • The Most Horrible Date: Let's do something you're bad at in front of other people!
  • Professional Wrestling: IT'S BACK, BABY! But why now? And also why?

It's Episode 34 of the Is This a Thing podcast! This week, Dan's back and better than ever! We talk about how Dan should redecorate his office: will he be a boring old Dilbert or an insane Rhonda? Marc complains about possibly having to learn how to paint on the fly while drinking overpriced wine, and we accidentally fix the American date. Finally, "Backup" Dan emails in a question about why men pretending to kick the shit out of each other are suddenly popular again. Answer: because we live in the best possible world for the moment.

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@taylorhigs) for our logo!

Episode 31 of the "Hey Zuckernerd!" Podcast!

"Lawyr: by ITAT"

Potential Things This week:

  • Stupid QuestionsDan starts the podcast off with a stupid question about stupid questions. Newsflash: they never go away.
  • Warranties: the question isn't whether or not to do them. But how best to grift-out a profit.
  • Lawyr™ by ITAT: the best idea we've come up with since ITAT air. Patent pending, jerks.
  • Solo Barhopping: "Only if you're at a bar for drinkin', not getting drunk." -Akshat Arneja

It's Episode 31 of the "Hey Zuckernerd!" Podcast! We start the episode with Dan asking about whether or not stupid questions will ever go away. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Then, Marc asks a question about warranties. Are they a good idea? Only with the plan to scam. Akshat then brings up his personal lawyer idea (as found on Bonus Rant #3: Akshat's Lawyer). This time the guys create the best app ever: Lawyr: by ITAT. Don't you dare steal our idea, Zuckernerd! Finally, the guys argue against going to bars by yourself. Hint: going to a club solo is super creepy regardless of gender.

It's Episode 30 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"#30 Twelve Bottles of Soylent and a Gun with One Bullet."

Potential Things This Week:

  • Soylent 2.0: Soylent is back! Marc is going to try it. If we're lucky, he'll film his first taste and make it bonus content.
  • Bourne-Out Bags: Fill it with Fiji water, MREs, and pictures of the family you left behind.
  • Bloody Marys: Too many unnecessary toppings. Thanks, Wisconsin.
  • Soundcloud Q&A: Hear the first (and hopefully last) Soundcloud submitted question.
  • Public Transit Live-Reads: Buses: the last true form of live theatre. Goodbye headphones, hello live infomercials.

It's Episode 30 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! We're still back, and going strong! Hear our first ever podcast recorded over Skype! See if you can tell who has the best internet connection! We start the episode with a shocking confession from Marc. He's going on Soylent! Listen as he reluctantly joins a community of smug assholes. Dan has our first topic where he argues for the ability to have a bug-out bag ready. He argues that it is for survival. We all know why he really wants it. Then, Akshat gets curmudgeony about bloody mary toppings. Dan and Akshat talk about bloody marys while Marc dreams about Mimosas. Finally, Marc brings up live-read bus infomercials. ITAT once again saves the planet, public transportation, and the unemployment crisis in one swift motion.

"Wouldn't you be nicer to people if you knew they just had the capability to just drop everything and leave?" - Dan.

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins for the Logo. Follow her on twitter: @TaylorHigs

It's Episode 29 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Sell Us Your Rebates!"

Starring Marc, Dan, and Akshat

Potential Things This Week:

  • Birthday Gifts for Akshat -  Will Akshat's true desire be fulfilled? Nope, though you will get to hear the word "Gropener" said about 20 times, and in spontaneous harmonics.
  • Single Ply Toilet Paper - It wouldn't be ITAT if we didn't spend 20 minutes talking about poop and we can use it to improve the nation. Also - Akshat goes too far.
  • "Hey, I didn't mean to talk to you!"- A new segment, where people who aren't listening unknowingly ask us questions. It all ends in your benefit! Also, we make plans to get some Australian girl extradited and then arrested.
  • Listening Question - Rebates! - Listen, we all know Rebates are a thing. The real question is, would you sell us your mail in rebate? We both profit! Why not? Tell you what, go ahead and mail in your mail in rebates to us, and we'll get it all figured out for you.

It's episode 29 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! Travel back in town to the sexy steamy summer days of 2015, as we pull one from the vault! In past land, Akshat hasn't moved yet and still lives in Minneapolis. Also, it was apparently his birthday recently? You can hear him get his presents! Crazy to think that a time existed before 'Straight Outta Compton' was released. It's wild. Anyways, true to form we basically talk about poop for 20 minutes or so. Mostly about single-ply toilet paper. We then move onto twitter, where we give advice to people who accidentally tweeted at us instead of hashtagging "Is this a thing". It's a wonderful segment we're calling "Hey, I didn't mean to talk to you!". Also, we're just kidding about harassing that girl via twitter. Our lawyer told us we had to mention that. We finally reach a wonderful listener topic from Chris R in Minneapolis - Rebates! Are rebates a thing? We're pretty sure we have an answer, and we're pretty sure we have an award winning business idea to go with it. So join us as we enter first back into your phones, then slowly and creepily into your homes, and finally reach our destination: your hearts. Thanks for listening!

#28: Christmas 2015 - Please Call It A Comeback

It's Episode 28 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Christmas 2015 - Please Call It A Comeback"

Starring Marc, Dan, and Akshat

Potential Things This Week:

  • Last Minute Christmas Shopping -  Every Christmas, your local Target becomes Dirty Mike's Wile West Shoppe. Featuring Dirty Mike riding the company horse, wielding a couple of guns, and making sure you SAVE SAVE SAVE! Also don't steal, or he'll shoot you.
  • Meth Magic - It's a Christmas Miracle every season! Coming soon to a local public broadcast channel near you!
  • Jeff's Game!Forget White Elephant, and get ready for Special Jeff's Special Game! Seriously, this is so much better than White Elephant. This is the best idea.
  • Dan's Special Problem - You thought Dan had problems before? Well, he did. You were right. He's got a new one here, though, and it's a doozy.

It's episode 28 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! We're back! Seriously, you guys, it's for serious this time. Please, go ahead and call it a comeback. Tell your friends! Tell your neighbors! For the love of god, at least tell your mailman. At least your mailman. This is our annual Christmas episode! This time, we're all about improving Christmas for the world! We propose wonderful things, like fixing White Elephant using Amazon Prime Now, fixing holiday TV using Methamphetamine, and fixing department stores by giving a homicidal manager guns and putting him on a horse. How could it go wrong? It can't! Also we discuss height and Akshat eats puppy chow halfway through this, and it sounds awful. He's really sorry about it. Happy New Year!

"Train Logic"

Potential Things This Week:

  • Prank Calls: You shouldn't do them. And apparently, it's not really even okay to enjoy listening to them.
  • Interacting with Friends in Public: Specific, somewhat sexual texts are clearly the way to go if you see a friend in public.
  • Autocorrect: Just download a different keyboard already. Autocorrect goofs just aren't furniture! See? Not funny.

It's Episode 25 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! It's our Silver Anniversary, which is just as precious as can be. Today, we talk about a host of issues that highlight how broken we are inside. Deeply, to be more specific. We are deeply broken. We first talk about Akshat's interesting and childlike fascination with Prank Phone Calls. It's still funny to him, even though he admits that it's probably not actually all that funny. From there, we go to a problem Dan has with greeting and being friendly to friends and coworkers that he might encounter randomly on the train. Well, it's not all friends and coworkers. Mostly enemy of the show Steve Farmer. Finally, we get to a PSA from Dan: turn off autocorrect on your phone. It's really just terrible, and if you make a mistake you should have to live with it. That might be the Golden Rule? We'll never truly find out.

#23: Contracts with Wolves

Episode 23 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!

"Contracts With Wolves"

Potential Things This week:

  • Social Contracts vis a vis General IncompetenceRemember: if you're bypassing the system for your own personal gain at the expense of others, the thing you're actually incompetent in is being a decent member of society.
  • New Years Resolutions: So, If you want your resolutions to stick, make sure they sound like something cheerleaders say at high school sports games. Turns out.
  • Listener Question - Fighting Animals: Everything will kill you. Bears. Hippos. Donkeys are monsters, don't fight Donkeys. Maybe you can beat up a chicken, or a gopher, but that's about it.

Sorry for missing last week. Most of us decided that, as the last time wasn't enough, we had to embark on more spiritual journeys. Dan became an owl. Akshat lived inside the mind of an accountant for a while. Marc had some business to attend to at the business factory. This week we have a lively discussion about social contracts through the lens of General Incompetence! It's a wonderful discussion on how we're all terrible and wrong. We then move on to New Year's Resolutions, wherein Dan insists this is the perfect time to talk about how he likes them, and then proceeds to badmouth them for 20 minutes. It's a shining example of the first topic. We finish with something special: a listener question from Chris in Chicago. This was actually a castoff from the Judge John Hodgeman Podcast, but as we explain, we're willing to take any questions other podcasts may have rejected. Also, we'd like to say to Chris to pass on a message to his Brother-In-Law who thinks he can fight any animal he happens to come across: RIP in peace James. You'll be kicking hippos in heaven.
